I'm working on a surface design self-portrait in fibers. I chose to do mine on who society says I am based on ideologies set forth in our visual culture.
Love this idea Abbey! We have so much to talk about both artistically and conceptually with the idea of ideologies and invisibility of the everyday. I have to share some resources with you at our next department chair meeting.
I am excited about hearing more about this portrait! Fabric? Screenprinting? Embroidery? Do tell!
you must bring in that fibers self portrait when you're done with it! I remember how awesome your work was in beginning, I can't imagine what it must be like now!
I think it is crazy that Disney films have female characters that are created to be "sexy". Do they really need to have skinny waists, voluminous hair, and boobs?
